How to download your OpenAI invoice

OpenAI has two separate billing systems: the API (platform.openai.com) and ChatGPT (Plus, Team). It's the most common mix-up — your ChatGPT invoice isn't on the API platform, nor vice versa. And the API can issue several invoices per month.

Step by step

    API: open the billing history

    At platform.openai.com → Settings → Organization → Billing → History (direct link above) you'll find every charge: credit purchases, auto-reloads and monthly usage billing.

    Download each invoice

    Each history line links to the Stripe-hosted invoice with “Download invoice” and “Download receipt” buttons. Several reloads means several invoices.

    ChatGPT Plus: manage the subscription

    At chatgpt.com → Settings → Subscription → Manage, the Stripe portal opens with your Plus or Team plan's monthly invoices.

    Fill in your tax details

    Both on the API and on ChatGPT you can add company name and VAT ID in billing details so they appear on future invoices.

Tips & edge cases

  • With auto-reload enabled, every reload is an invoice: a heavy API month can generate 5–10 documents.
  • You need an owner role in the API organization to see billing.
  • ChatGPT Team bills the organization per seat; downloads work the same way via the Stripe portal.

Where is my ChatGPT Plus invoice?

At chatgpt.com → Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription, which opens the Stripe portal with all monthly invoices. It's not on platform.openai.com.

Why do I have so many OpenAI invoices?

Each API credit purchase or auto-reload generates a separate invoice, on top of your ChatGPT subscription if you have one.

Can collecting them all be automated?
